Why Make This Kid’s Trail Mix Recipe for Easter?
Let’s get real, Easter is kinda cancelled on a big scale. Easter is going to be super tough this year, what with the Corona Virus STAY HOME order in effect…while my parents live only 1/2 a mile away, and I can easily go see them, we can’t gather in crowds larger than 10, and our family is over 10 without even counting all of the grand kids or spouses, let alone cousins or grandparents.
Let the kids make this DIY Easter Bunny Banner!
You can get the step by step instructions here!
How will you spend the Easter holiday during the Corona Virus outbreak?
We will likely all spend Easter alone in our own homes, except maybe for me and one of my sisters who doesn’t have any children – I MAY go to my parents. I don’t even know if that is safe, as my parents are older…Everything is just so uncertain right now, with the main priority of course being that everyone to avoid each another and remaining healthy. What better time than now for us all to hunker down in our kitchens and try something new to make the holiday a little more exciting?
Now, if you are reading this blog post in real time, during the Corona Virus outbreak of 2020, then you probably aren’t going to run out to the store right now! Ha ha! You can order most of the ingredients for this Trail Mix on Amazon! I have actually put together a list for you here!
How to Make this Kid’s Trail Mix Recipe for Easter
Ingredients
- 6 cups popped and salted popcorn
- 1/4 cup each of 4 different colors of candy melts -pink, yellow, vibrant green and light blue
- 4 cups pretzel sticks
- 1 cup Easter M&M candies
- 2 cups Bunny Grahams
- -Used Annie’s Organic Friends Bunny Grahams
- Sprinkles
Directions
Place wax paper onto a baking sheet and spread your popped popcorn onto the wax paper and spread it out evenly.
Place one color candy melts into a sandwich bag.
Microwave your candy melts for 60 seconds at 50% power, then knead the bag well. If there are still chunks of of the candy, microwave it again at 30 second increments at 50% power until it is completely smooth. Snip the tip of the bag and drizzle the melted candy onto the tray of popcorn.
Repeat with each of the remaining colors of candy melts, one at a time.
Sprinkle with sprinkles. Set the candy coated popcorn mixture aside to harden. You can put it in the fridge, but it really isn’t necessary – it will harden enough on its own with the room temperature air in your kitchen! It doesn’t need cold.
Add all of your pretzels, candies and grahams into a mixing bowl and mix it all up well.
Break apart the sheet of hardened, candy coasted popcorn into small pieces and place into the bowl and mix.
You can set this Kid’s Trail Mix Recipe for Easter in a pretty decorative Easter bowl, or store the leftover trail mix in a sealed bag or container for easy snacking!
